Mac and Tosh

Mac and Tosh is a series of computers developed by Mac'anded Computer. They are commonly referred to as "Apple Macs" because the team were obsessed with Big Macs, and they were their fuel while developing these computers. Also they liked apples.

History

Mac and Toshes were originally conceptualized to be workhorse computers which sat on the back of actual horses and used the rider's heart as its power source. Deciding that it would be impractical (but not impossible) to do, that idea was scrapped. After a few months around the desk and a trip to the bedroom shop, the idea of a computer suitable for business and home usage arose. They started to spec out the computer, making it user-serviceable by using off-the-shelf components for the majority of the mainboard. It was pitched by Grate Jobs at CeX 1992 during Mac'anded's talk, to a standing ovation.

The first generation of Mac and Toshes was released in 1994. It cost £20 and boasted a 1 Hz Celery processor, with 8 bits of physical switch storage and 1 bit of RAM. This was revolutionary for the time, as it could store an on and off state, something which no other computer was capable of. It also had a start-up sound which made people happy every time it powered up (it became known that the computer wasn't the only thing turned on after hearing it).

Despite the limited specs, it was a massive success at the time, and popular demand led to an expansion module which cost £3,999 and upgraded the processor to an AMD Ryzen Threadripper, as well as adding a GTX 2080Ti graphics card and replacing the physical switch storage with a 1TB solid state drive. RAM size remained at 1 bit. It was discontinued in late 1995 to make way for the second generation of Mac and Toshes, which boosted the clock speed of the Celery processor from 1 to 2 Hz, and increased the ram size from 1 bit to 1 byte. The expansion was also compatible with this generation, and the price decreased from £3,999 to £3,998.99 after protesters waved flaming candy floss outside Mac'anded's headquarters.
